Meet the Founder

Our founder is Quham Adefila. He is an undergraduate in his final year at Imperial College London studying Computer Science on track to achieve a 1st class. He achieved AAAA at AS level and A*A*A*A* at A-level, all in Maths-based subjects. At GCSE Quham attained all A* (and above). The most notable of those GCSEs is Further Maths, which he taught himself entirely and achieved a rare grade, A* with a distinction. Not only did this leave him with a flawless academic record, but these GCSEs also placed him in the top 0.05% of students across the country.

Quham’s mathematical experience extends beyond his grades and into the professional realm of tutoring. This commenced in Year 11, where he started up a Maths club for age-mates struggling with the Mathematics course. It was then that he realised he had a knack for helping people understand Maths and enjoy it too. Furthermore, he also has 2 years of experience with face-to-face tutoring, whilst balancing 4 A-levels, and helping several students in the process. As a young tutor, Quham can build a strong rapport with students, which creates a comfortable environment for students to make mistakes, learn from them and deepen their understanding, which is crucial for their progress. Over the course of the year, the minimum progress made by Quham’s students was 2 grades and no one has fallen short of their target grade. To add, several of Quham’s previous students also went on to achieve Grade 9 at GCSE. This is a record Quham aims to continue and even exceed through Inspire Maths Tuition. He is just one example of the many amazing tutors at Inspire.

The Inspiration behind Inspire.

Here are a few words from Quham - “Being from a low-income ethnic background, my parents couldn’t afford a tutor for me, despite the immense importance they place on education. This is why I devoted my time to teaching myself content and became the highest-achieving student in my cohort at GCSE. I then became a student at Brampton Manor, where I was surrounded by black excellence. This changed in university, where I’m 1 of 5 black students in a cohort of 200+. I realised I was the exception and ethnic students reaching such institutions was not the norm. It saddened me to see this but INSPIRED me to change this misrepresentation because I had seen it done in my sixth form. Having experienced being an ethnic student breaking the stereotype despite financial difficulties, I wanted to mentor and support other black kids to do the same. I hope Inspire can provide affordable tuition for disadvantaged and ethnic students across the globe in the future.”

Yes. It includes what face-to-face includes and more:

  • You are in the comfort of your own home.

  • You do not have to carry around any books.

  • You and your tutor write on the same page at the same time.

  • You have continuous support from your tutor and can email them outside of the lesson.

  • You can replay videos for revision or consolidation
